“As Original As The Artist”

I have been a landscape photographer and printer for a good number of years. My wife is an artist and some 20 years ago she asked me if I would photograph some of her artwork and print it for sale at an upcoming art fair. Well that is when the journey began. I learned quickly that photographing and printing my landscape images is much more straightforward than fine art; which is what I found it to be — a fine art. When comparing a reproduction to an original the artist wishes that it accurately represents the work. I honed my skills over the years with a calibrated workflow that strived to provide a result that meets our motto “As Original As The Artist”.

I have worked with over 75 artists in the New England area to enter juried art shows, to provide images for their websites, to get accepted at galleries that represent them and to provide reproductions of their original work for them to sell. I have had the pleasure to capture watercolor, oil, pastel, acrylic, collage and three dimensional work as well as other mediums.

The fine art reproduction print is the greatest challenge and reward for me. Printing of an artists original provides another dimension that requires additional knowledge of papers, inks, and workflow. When comparing the original and the reproduction side by side the critical eye of the artist is the final judge and their acceptance of the result is my reward. I have printed on canvas, textured and smooth finish rag based archival papers and have recently provided printing on wood veneer, metals as well as fabrics to meet the needs of artists and their exhibits.
